Bobtail

Bobtails are incredibly intelligent dogs with a calm, harmonious character. They are good-natured, sensible, friendly, never show aggression towards a person and various domestic animals. In addition, bobtails are wonderful nannies who care for children and always care about them.
Appearance
The bobtail is a very large, muscular, proportional and harmonious dog with a long, fluffy coat. The maximum height of a bobtail at the withers is 61 cm.
The dog’s body is square in shape, the loin is at a level slightly higher than the withers (light “high-rise”), the musculature is developed, the chest is wide, strong, the limbs are straight, with strong bones, the paws are round. The head of the dog is voluminous, large, the transition from the forehead to the muzzle is pronounced, eyebrows are developed. Jaws are strong, square, healthy teeth, large, scissors bite. The eyes are medium, oval, dark in color, the expression of the eyes is intelligent and friendly. The nose is black. The ears are medium in size, hanging in position and lying close to the head.
Bobtail wool is an incredible feature of the breed – fluffy, thick, wavy, with a developed undercoat. Thanks to this wool, the dog is not afraid of any frost. The color of the bobtail is very beautiful, mostly in white and blue, the pattern can be varied.
Character
Bobtails are incredibly loyal, obedient and perfectly amenable to training and education, provided that the owner treats them kindly and fairly. A bobtail is a schooling but not dominant dog, and the owner is always the absolute leader. If the owner is unfair to the pet, often punishes him and hurts, the dog loses himself and ceases to trust the person.
As is the case with many breeds, to bring up bobtails should start from an early age. If the owner does not have experience in training and raising dogs, it is better to involve a specialist in the process who will control the correct formation of the dog’s behavior.
Despite the impressive dimensions, Bobtails feel great in terms of housing, but the best option, of course, would be a country house with its own territory, which a huge pet would happily guard.
Health
Bobtails have a naturally strong health, but they need attentive and caring care.
The owner of this dog is lucky: the bobtail practically does not shed, but the pet’s coat must be combed daily, otherwise it will mess up and form mats. By the way, the fluffy coat of a dog is often used for knitting warm clothes, and you can find useful uses for it.
The hair on the dog’s head almost completely covers her eyes, in no case can you comb her back, since the eyes of the bobtail are very sensitive and it is the wool that protects them from various factors.
The ears and eyes of the dog need regular inspection, as necessary, contamination must be removed so as not to provoke an inflammatory reaction. It is recommended to cut the hair growing in the ears and on the paws.
It is recommended to bathe bobtails only in case of emergency. In cloudy weather, so that the wool does not get dirty, take the pet for a walk in a special overalls.
Story
It is believed that the bobtails were bred in the UK by crossing the South Russian Shepherd Dog and Briar. These dogs quickly found use on farms as livestock herders, in addition, they demonstrated excellent protective qualities and, most importantly, an incredible love for children, which allowed them to use in treatment programs for children with developmental disabilities.
For the first time the breed was presented at the exhibition in 1865 in England, and was standardized only in 1888, despite its long and rich history.
Today, Bobtails are practically not used for working with livestock, however, they perfectly manifest themselves as guide dogs and “doctors” who help to treat children with various disabilities. Bobtails are also spiritual pets that are popular in many countries.
