Beaver york

Beaver yorkies are ideal dogs for apartment keeping.
Appearance
A beaver york is a miniature, proportional dog with beautiful silky hair. The maximum height of the beaver is 27 cm, weight – 3.5 kg.
The beaver has a compact body, straight back, straight legs with small rounded legs. The head is small, proportional, the transition from the forehead to the nose is pronounced. The eyes are medium in size, dark. The ears are triangular, erect. The tail is set high, not docked.
Coat of beaver is the main advantage of the breed. The coat is very long (reaches the ground), straight, silky, as if it falls down with a beautiful mantle on the sides of the dog and forms a smooth parting along the body: from the head to the very tail. At the same time the coat does not hide the proportions of the dog. The tail is also covered with wool, not docked.
The color palette of the beaver is the most diverse: the color can be white-blue, blue, black and white, black and white “jabot”. On the head there are white, black, blue and gold spots. The beaver’s chest, abdomen, and paws are always white.
Character
When you first look at a beaver, you get the impression that this is an infinitely cheerful, energetic and playful dog, and in fact everything is just that. Beaver yorkies are active, intelligent, cheerful and balanced pets, which, however, are sometimes too stubborn. Therefore, in bringing up miniature dogs it is necessary to exercise patience and firmness.
Throughout life, beavers combine childlike openness and strong character, they are incredibly inquisitive and, with the right upbringing, easily learn what can and cannot be done.
Health
In Biver, hereditary diseases are often found, therefore, acquiring a puppy, it is necessary to study its pedigree.
It is believed that dogs of this breed are prone to diseases such as portosystemic extrahepatic shunts, pancreatitis, Legg-Perthes disease.
In the overwhelming majority of cases, if we are not talking about hereditary diseases, ill health is caused by improper diet and adverse conditions of detention.
The wool of beavers also needs special care. If the dog does not participate in exhibitions, it will be more convenient to cut it under a puppy. After washing the dog’s hair must be dried with a hairdryer and in parallel to combing it. The hair between the fingers and around the paws, as well as on the ears, must be cut off.
Beavers are long-lived, they live up to 15 years.
Story
The ancestors of beaver yorkies are without a doubt Yorkshire terriers. In the 1980s, German breeders Werner and Gertrude Biver discovered white-spotted Yorkshire in a litter of one of their dogs. At that time, the Biver family had been working with the Yorkies for about 20 years, they were very interested in unusual puppies, and they decided to consolidate this breeding line.
Thus, already in 1988, Werner introduced the new “black and white” York at the exhibition in Wiesbaden. A year later, the breed was registered in Germany, and the final breed standard was signed by Gertrude Beaver in 2007.
The name of the breed can often be found the prefix “a la Pom-Pon” (“colored ball of yarn”), which is obliged by its origin to the famous German singer Margot Eskens, whose husband gave her a black and white York.
