Pomeranian spitz

Pomeranian Spitz is one of the most popular dog breeds in the world. These dogs perfectly feel in the conditions of the apartment maintenance, strongly become attached to the owner and do not get tired to surprise with vigorous, inquisitive character. Surprisingly, the history of these kids began in the Stone Age: the ancestors of the Spitz were fossil peat dogs.
Appearance
Pomeranian Spitz – a dwarf variety of German Spitz. The height of the breed at the withers, according to the FCI standard, is 18-22 cm.
The body of the Pomeranian Spitz in square format. The body of dogs is dry and strong, the muscles are sufficiently developed, however, the dogs are very elegant and compact. The Pomeranian Spitz has a small, neat head, a rounded muzzle, tapering gradually towards the nose and a bit like a fox, a black or brown nose (depending on color). Eyes of medium size, set slightly obliquely. The expression of the eyes is lively and curious. Ears are miniature, triangular, erect. The tips of the ears are pointed. The tail is of medium length, fluffy, held above the back, curled up into a ring. Limbs strong, paws rounded and compact.
The hair of the Pomeranian Spitz is long, straight, thick and slightly raised. There is a thick, soft undercoat. On the front of the limbs, ears and head, the coat is shorter and more dense. The long hair on the neck forms a fluffy, very beautiful collar, and on the paws – pants.
The color of the Pomeranian Spitz can be black, white, brown, gray, reddish-white, etc. In the presence of stains, the main color remains white. In general, the color palette is quite diverse.
Pomeranian spitz
Character
It is difficult to find a dog with a more charming character than the Pomeranian. However, one should not expect absolute obedience and aggression from this breed to the sofa lifestyle. Yes, this pet looks like a soft toy, but in its soul the spitz is a real explorer with a courageous heart and an unlimited supply of energy.
Spitz is incredibly playful and active, at any moment he is ready to rush to meet new adventures. This dog is self-confident and independent, but its loyalty to the owner deserves sincere admiration. Spitz dogs very strongly become attached to their man, catch his mood for the slightest signs and often even begin to be jealous of the host for other people around him. But in relation to strangers, Spitz is mistrustful and suspicious. Thanks to this quality, from spitz-dogs good watchmen turn out.
As for training, oranges are smart dogs, however, some stubbornness is peculiar to them, and training should be persistent and patient. Do not be aggressive with the spitz in any case, so you will quickly lose his confidence. This proud dog greatly appreciates the care and attention, and immediately reacts to rudeness and mistreatment by estrangement. In addition, small but strong-willed dogs prefer to be leaders, and if you already have other pets, do not be surprised if a tiny spitz starts building your German shepherd dog. And believe me, he will succeed!
Pomeranian spitz-dogs are ideal for active people who value sociable, playful and energetic pets.
Health
In general, the breed is characterized by good health and high life expectancy (13-15 years).
Care
Pomeranian spitz-dogs are ideally suited for housing conditions. These are neat, clean and unpretentious dogs, which if desired can be accustomed to the tray. However, the well-being of Spitz dogs is impossible without active walks and games, and this way the dog doesn’t fit the sofa way of life.
Thick coat Spitz combed 2 times a week.
Dwarf Spitz
Story
When looking at the Spitz, it seems that this decorative breed was bred by the breeders specifically for the housing maintenance. However, Spitz has the most ancient history. Their ancestors – fossil peat dogs – lived in the Stone Age, and such an ancient origin explains the unpretentiousness and good health of the little fluffy “cubs”.
A variety of dwarf Spitz is named after one of the regions of Germany, where, it is believed, it was bred. The first breed club was founded in 1935. Today, there are several varieties of Spitz, but dwarf (Pomeranian) spitz are the most popular all over the world.
