Japanese Akita Inu
Akita Inu is one of the most beautiful and unusual dog breeds in the world. It seems that in these dogs there is a nobility of Eastern civilization and all the originality of Japan – the countries where these wonderful pets were bred.
The Akita Inu are fairly large dogs: the maximum height at the withers is 71 cm and the weight is 45 kg. They have a strong, well-built physique, a developed musculature, a wide, strong chest, powerful paws, a large triangular head. Akita hair is very thick, with undercoat, hair length is on average 5 cm. The color is predominantly light, we also say piebald and tiger. Perhaps the presence of spots, but only obvious, with a distinguished contour.
The ears of the Akita Inu are standing, small, in the shape of a triangle. The eyes are dark brown with black eyelids. Nose, as a rule, is black, slight pigmentation is allowed, but only in akita of white color.
Another feature of the breed is a large, high-set, slightly curled tail, which is either folded over its back or held along its back. In the latter case, the tail is twisted by ¾, and the tip of the tail hangs slightly to one side.
81.jpg Even a skeptic will be forced to agree with the statement that Akita Inu has a perfect character. These are amazingly intelligent dogs that always stand with dignity and seem to understand everything. Akita are very contrasting, on the one hand they have a soft and affectionate character, and on the other they are bold and very strong.
Despite their love for people, communication and affection, these animals are very cautious and distrustful of strangers and long “check” strangers before taking for their own. But family members are the most important thing that can be for an Akita Inu, she is devoted to them with all her heart and will stand for those close to the last. Of course, Akita is very good with children, these dogs can even shift a part of their educational duties.
Since childhood, Akita Inu are curious, playful and cheerful. The youthful enthusiasm and optimism is not lost in adult dogs, however, as they mature, the Akita become more balanced and cautious. Representatives of this breed never show spontaneous aggression. It seems that Akita always controls the situation and never makes mistakes.
Japanese Akita dogs are the best and most irreplaceable friends, they are obedient, but in return they demand respect for themselves and very much value good attitude and care.
As befits a real samurai, Akita Inu have very good health and strong immunity. Serious diseases rarely bother representatives of this breed, however, Akita Inu has a slight tendency to reversal of the century (hereditary trait), torsion of the stomach (due to overeating and sedentary lifestyle) and joint dysplasia (genetic disease).
In terms of housing, Akita Inu need long daily walks, at least twice a day, as an active lifestyle is the key to the health of this dog.
Akita Inu’s hair doesn’t need any difficult care during the usual period, it’s enough to comb the dog a couple of times a week. But during the period of molting, grooming should be more serious, the dog should be regularly combed out to avoid the appearance of tangles and allow the wool to be updated in a timely manner.
The Akita Inu breed has a rich and interesting history. It is believed that the ancestors of Akita were spitz-like rocks. Studies have shown that the Akita Inu is the oldest breed of dog, one of the 14 oldest breeds in the world. The remains of dogs, similar to the modern Akita Inu, date back to 2 thousand BC. In addition, some antique figures depict dogs whose appearance is practically the same as modern Japanese akit.
It is believed that this breed was bred in the Japanese province of Akito, located in the northern part of the island of Honshu. “Inu” in Japanese means “dog.” So called wonderful dogs: Akita Inu.
“Genuine” Akita Inu, as we know them now, appeared in this province in the 17th century, and since then the appearance of dogs has not changed at all. The purity of the blood of the Akita Inu was carefully guarded and protected (in 1927 the Akita Inu Preservation Society was founded), the Akita Inu is absolutely original.
From the end of the 17th century in Japan, Akita Inu were the pets of the aristocracy and emperors. For harming Akita Inu, any person should have been punished. This breed was elite, although only a few years ago the Akita Inu, along with other dogs, guarded the village houses and hunted for their owners.
Akita Inu have always been treated with great respect. These dogs were honored for their inner strength and wisdom, often caring for them turned into a whole ceremony.
During the Second World War and later, Akita were often bred with German Shepherd Dogs and other dogs. So there were varieties of Akita Inu. However, at about the same time, active work was carried out to recreate the “primordial” purebred Akita, this is modern Japanese Akita Inu.
